About

Biography
Educated for nine years through the Bergen National Academy of the Arts and other leading art and music institutions, Johansen unites art forms that are often kept apart.

He is an accepted member of
Norske Billedkunstnere (The Association of Norwegian Visual Artists)
Norske Grafikere (The Norwegian Association of Printmakers)
nyMusikk, Norway’s centre for contemporary music and national section of the ISCM (International Society for Contemporary Music)
His work has been exhibited in Norway, France, Germany, Iceland, and Sweden, and he has appeared on Norwegian, Icelandic, and German national television discussing his artistic philosophy and inventions.

Now based in Nyksund, at the edge of the Arctic Ocean, he continues to create a body of work that bridges industrial ruin and spiritual rebirth.

Multidisciplinary Practice
A multidisciplinary artist and composer, Johansen melts artistic expressions into large-scale installations that combine sculpture, sound, architecture, and design.

His works often feature sculptures, artefacts, and readymades woven together with music, soundscapes, and contemporary neo-classical composition. Many of his installations are interactive, using sensors, projectors, and custom software to respond to movement, light, or sound.

Beyond installation, his practice spans painting, printmaking, performance, video art, sound art, sculpture, and new science & technology — a total-art approach where every medium contributes to one philosophical and sensory experience.

Exhibitions & Recognition
Recipient of the Art Grant for Northern Norway and numerous other national awards, Johansen’s work has been praised on Kunstkritikk.no — one of Northern Europe’s most respected art criticism platforms.

The renowned critic Tommy Olsson described his exhibition Dystopia as

“Monumental introspection and northern myth-making — a synthesis of spiritual ecology and industrial ruin that feels both ancient and futuristic.”

This recognition places Johansen among the leading voices redefining Nordic art at the intersection of material, sound, and philosophy.

Philosophy

“I don’t create to be seen. I create to survive — and to help others imagine a better world.”

For Johansen, creation is an act of compassion. His sculptures and inventions act as bridges between humanity, nature, and technology, exploring what it means to remain human in an age of artificial intelligence and ecological crisis.

His lifelong mission is the fusion of Art × Music × Invention × Philosophy — a visionary language for empathy, sustainability, and peace.
